If you are hankering for a good sandwich this is the place. Plenty of meat and cheese with thick cut homemade bread and all the fixings you select. Only order a whole sandwich if you really hungry or you are going to share because it is BIG! They have all kinds of mouthwatering bake goods for dessert. A place you must visit if you are in the area.

Love hanging out with the good folk of Spanish Fork while eating a dang good sandwich. Hickory Kist makes their sandwiches fresh and big. You create it on paper and they'll assemble it. I always get turkey and cranberry because it makes my insides smile. Soups are good too!

Love the sandwiches, the peanut butter bars, the soup. It's all great here. The sandwiches are huge and they put plenty of meat and cheese on them. Their hickory smoked turkey is delish, probably my favorite meat on a sandwich. Could be a little less expensive, but I still like it!

This is perhaps my favorite sandwich shop. It reminds me of sandwiches my mom used to make for our lunches on the farm in Idaho (except Hickory Kist's are twice the size). I have been called a big mouth before, but not even my mouth is big enough to get around these sandwiches. I have been here several times for with buddies for lunch, but this last week as we were headed to California, I stopped with the family. My wife and daughters all loved it. Their bread is fresh and homemade. Their ordering process gets you just what you want. Their treats are amazing as well. This visit I sampled the cherry chocolate fudge, and we all shared a rice crispy treat with M&M's. I ordered a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce and avocado on it. It was fabulous!! I must warn you however, their bread is huge, so I usually go with a half sandwich. They also load your sandwich, so go hungry. My daughter does not like sandwiches so she got a cup of their chili. My wife and I both tried it, and it was exceptional as well. Their service is good and the workers are friendly. The atmosphere has a definite country feel to it. There are also nifty crafts around the restaurant that you can buy if you like. I love Kneaders, but I think Hickory Kist has them beat. Being an old Idaho farm boy, this sandwich shop has much less of an urbanized feel to it, it is located in Spanish Fork (pronounced Spanish Fark to give it the real country feel) after all. That is why I am not giving it 5 stars. It is quite the drive for me to get there. I have tried the Hickory Kist on Center in Provo, but I prefer this location much more. If you are ever in Spanish Fork, or are feeling like a sandwich better than mom makes, take a drive and try these guys out. You won't be disappointed.

Unless you're handcuffed and on your way to jail in the backseat of a Crown Vic, if you find yourself in this area of The Fark, you'd better stop here for a samwitch. But don't bother visiting at lunchtime on a weekday, because you'll be swallowed whole by the hoards of locals who carpool in droves just to eat HK's homemade food. The little shop has been located in the same spot for about 1400 years, right between a few car repair shops, and across from the cardboard plant. It's not glamorous. Do come here between 11:30 a.m.-Noon, or after 1:30 p.m. And when you visit, come hungry. I mean extraordinarily hungry. Like, maybe don't eat for a few days beforehand. The massive sandwiches are the main act. Even the half is more than I can handle in one sitting. I tend to order a mini, which comes on a roll. That may sound "lite" to some, but trust me, it's not. Their rolls are a meal in themselves. All sandwiches come on their homemade bread (white or wheat), which you can buy in loaves and take home. You designate your sandwich elements (they have everything) by filling out a form while in line along their counter/cases containing all manner of evil, which we fondly refer to as "the malevolent mile." I'm talking peanut butter bars, rice krispy treats (chocolate dipped, even), their famous fudge (just get some; do it), and a plethora of pies, cheesecakes, and other treats that will make your dentist do the happy dance. The soups are usually fantastic. My personal favorites are the Creamy Chicken Noodle and Vege Beef. They're hearty, and yes, you could make a full meal with just a bowl of their soup. They feature a couple of daily lunch specials, which are posted on their whiteboard as well as detailed on facebook if you're into that. They frequently run out of something, though, and you can call ahead to place your order. But you are still required to walk the malevolent mile to pay and pick up your food. They do beautiful gift baskets, and they sell their bread, rolls, turkeys, jam, sweets & desserts, and pretty much everything else individually. You can place orders for whatever you need for Holiday dinners, or anything you need throughout the year. They'll work with you on special orders for just about anything they offer. I really have very few complaints about this place. But, just for S&G, listen up HK Management (aka Aunt Fern), 'cause here they are: 1. For the love of all that is holy, pleeeease come up with a better ordering/line method. I hate getting in the order line, and being promptly trampled by each and every one of the local workers trying to get past me to leave, all in the same 6 inches of space in this busy area. Maybe consider a drive-through for those just picking up their orders? 2. Your drinks blow. The sodas are always flat, and the "juices" you offer at the fountain machine always taste like a combination of influenza and Play-Doh. Not an actual complaint - more like a caution to potential diners: just try to ignore the decor. It's like Relief Society blew up in there. Lace everywhere, various toll-painted items. It's...well...I'm just warning you. HK does nothing small. Everything is oversized. Especially the crowd.

This was my first time trying this deli. I ordered Clam Chowder and a Turkey and Avocado sandwich. I would love to be able to say it was wonderful, but it was not. The Clam Chowder's consistency was like broth. It was like eating Chicken Noodle soup but with potatoes and clams...such a disappointment. The sandwich was good, so I was able to enjoy that. I would recommend the sandwich's there, but stay away from the soup. Maybe it was just a bad soup day.
